Dozens of CWA Canada members up for CAJ awards

Dozens of CWA Canada members are among the finalists for Canadian Association of Journalists awards that recognize excellence in investigative reporting.

CBC journalists, most of whom are members of the Canadian Media Guild (CMG), CWA Canada’s largest Local, are finalists in nine categories. Other CMG members who made the cut in five categories work at either APTN, The Canadian Press, TVO, or VICE.

Tyler Dawson, an Ottawa Citizen reporter and member of another Local, the Ottawa News Guild, is a finalist in the Text Feature category for Watchdogs, oversight and Ontario’s thin blue line: How the stakes got so high.

In contention for the CWA Canada / CAJ Award for Labour Reporting are:

The CAJ said in a release there were a total of 276 entries for the 2016 awards program. The lengthy list of finalists includes links to their work that was published or broadcast last year. The winners in each category will be announced April 29 at a gala and banquet in Ottawa.
